Schools, Austerity and Privatization in the Pandemic Era
Based on findings from policy, document, and media analyses as well as interviews with educational leaders, teachers, former government policy advisors and academics, Dr. Paul Bocking demonstrates how Ontario, Canada’s K-12 education systems transformed during the first 2 years of the COVID-19 pandemic. The report, prepared for the Ontario Teachers’ Federation, assesses the Ontario government’s funding of health and safety measures in schools, examines how teachers’ work was profoundly restructured during the pandemic, and details the acceleration of education privatization during this period.
